The Circus!

No, not just the regular everyday circus in our house - a real one :0)

A Russian circus has been in town for the last month, so we decided to take the kids the other day. It wasn't quite as exciting as I remember the circus being when I was a kid, but then, I am turing 30 this year....sigh, oh to have the innocent appreciation of childhood again.

Anyway, they had some interesting animals :0)

Although the following pictures kind of poke fun at the Doha zoo, I actually MOSTLY like it :0) Its not super humane if you find yourself to be such an activist, however, the animals are fed and cooled, have a place to sleep and there is an infirmary for the ill. Its easy to see the animals, which makes it nice for the kids, admission is less than $2, there are lots of trees and they have a great park.

Look at me... living on the edge, ha :0) Just testing the child safety barriers at our zoo (which is for children), a yellow line - certainly VERY deterring! Anyway, for those of you who are planning to visit, please know that according to travel reviews, 'Doha is one of the safest places on earth'. That is to say you likely won't be robbed or murdered while you are here, but you COULD: be hit by a speeding car, fall into an unmarked hole in the sidewalk...or an open pond (not to worry the latter 2 probably won't kill you).

Well, at least the Elephant was in a fence, right? :0)

Goodbye 'Great Grandpa' - (March 17, 2010)

We are feeling the loss of Grandpa Woods today and wishing we were closer to home. No matter the age, sorrow is always felt when one you love has gone. We are thankful though, that heaven feels closer when we can think of those we love who are there.

...from our Garden!

Daudi is the gardener's right hand man lately, especially when it comes to picking the tomatoes. Everyday he checks the tomato plant (well, more like a bush, actually) for new red tomatoes and comes running in to wash and eat a few. Also, this dear sweet boy of mine brings me AT LEAST one flower every time he goes outside. Isn't that nice? Good job there are lots of petunias out there :0) He loves to pick things.....yes, as you can imagine I'm dreaming of having a vegetable and herb garden back home. What a handy little weed picker he would be!

Adair's busy days

Here is a little peek into the life of Adair these days. I know a video would be better, but you get the idea.....She's here, there and everywhere and doesn't usually stop too long for anything! She's constantly chattering away in her own little language that no one else understands.

(However, I took the kids to their first swimming lesson this morning and Adair fell asleep IN the pool! Well, she was in her raft and has a bit of a sinus cold so I guess it was just as well. Better luck next week :0)

A visit from Mr. and Mrs. Quigley

This past week we were quite lucky to have Kent and Jenelle stop in Doha to visit us on their way home from Africa. We are sure glad they could work us into their itinerary :0) Good times with a great couple! Not sure when the last time we saw each other was, but we decided it was the first time either Jarvis or I had met Kent. And Jenelle, well she is just the same sweet girl she always was. It comes to mind that my high school English teacher used to say 'to truly good people there is consistency'.
