Here we are...

We thought it was spring last weekend, but we are being snowed upon again today....sigh.  I'm sure it will come eventually.  Here's  a few pictures taken lately.

Daudi is enjoying piano but the daily 10 mins of practice usually involves a little conflict.  Adair tries to keep him encouraged :0)

I love Daudi

Daudi is growing up.  He is learning a lot at school these days, how to recognize sight words, how to solve problems even when they are difficult, how to sit quietly and LISTEN (he's working on that one,  seems he and his good buddy Coy have a lot of things to discuss).  However, his teacher gave a very good report at parent teacher interviews a few weeks ago, with some improvement expected in the above mentioned.

Anyway, as his mother, I often feel the list of things to improve upon is more lengthy than his teacher mentioned.  And I don't usually like to talk about how proud I am of my kids, but I have been thinking that I don't ever give Daudi enough credit.  So... here's to 'Mom' improving on that!

Daudi,
I am very thankful to be your mother.  You are a very smart, sweet, and considerate little boy.  I appreciate the way you always want to help me in the kitchen, how you always want to do a 'workout' while I'm on the treadmill :0)  I like that you always have something you want to talk to me about, I would really be so lonely without your constant chatter.  I am very thankful that you are quick to say you are sorry when we have a blowup.  I love that you love your little sister and look out for her.  And most of all, I love when you come home from school and can't wait to tell me all about your day!

I love you,
Mom

Adair, and her entertaining ways

She is really into clothes right now and changes at least three or four times a day.  Sometimes things are on backwards, inside out and upside down, but she doesn't care just likes to get dressed (and undressed all by herself.   On this particular occasion she decided to model 4 or 5 pairs of Daudi's gitch, at the same time.   She's all about STYLE and COMFORT, as you can tell!

Halloween

This could quite possibly my least favourite day of the year.   I know its fun to carve pumpkins and dress up....but who's idea was it to give small children ridiculous amounts of candy for coming to their houses anyway??    We had fun visiting our neighbours, which ended up to be only about 7 houses in 2 hours so that was good :0)  Daudi still ended up with a belly ache and one that continued for a few consecutive days afterwards.  He said to me "Mom, my tummy DOES NOT feel good!  This is a lesson for me, i think"  :0(  Poor guy, I had to bite my lip to keep the smile away.  Wonder how long his lesson will last.

our house...sided in the nick of time!

Jarv finished the last wall at 2AM the night we got our first big dump of snow.  I wasn't even helping him that night either, what a rotten wife, hey!

Growing...

The kids love to be measured on the wall, I can't believe how much they both have grown over the summer!  I guess I should un-hem Daudi's pajama pants now that they are getting a little floodish :0)

Hat day at school for Daudi, and Orange Day for Adair

Happy birthday, Jacinda!

A few weeks ago Daryn rented a van and took a bunch of us to Virden for a really nice supper to celebrate his lovely wife's 30th birthday!  Good times :0)

                                                          the celebration crew

Jarv was just thrilled to be included :0)

Banjo

Jarv got the kids a puppy a few weeks ago...one Sat. when I was working at the pool, if only I would have been home!  Just kidding, he's cute and the kids love him.  He makes lots of messes and chews stuff and terrorizes the cats, but that's what puppies do, right?  At least we always know where Adair is when she goes outside by herself now.  She used to sneak off and hide sometimes and we would have to hunt her down, but now we can hear her everywhere, 'Banjo, NO! K, no no Banjo!' as he tries to grab the kitty she's carrying around.

Daudi's first day of Kindergarten!

Tuesday was the big first day of 'real' school for Daud.  He was super excited to ride the bus and told me several times previous to this day, that he sure hoped he would learn to read when he went to school on Tuesday!
I was/am excited for him to go to Kindergarten too, and I have questioned my motherly emotions a lot because I have never really felt sad thinking about it.  Anyway, I was slightly reassured that perhaps I'm a little more normal than I thought, as I actually had to take a big gulp and swallow my tears right back down when he got on the bus.   I mean, look at him, such a small boy and a great big empty bus.  (He is first on in the morning at 7:45)  But mostly I was thinking that this was the first time we were sending him off into the world all by himself.
....this is how life goes, right.  Its so much fun to see him get off the bus and run to the house with a big smile on his face, happy to see me and tell me all about his day!

Daddy stayed home for the big send off - he was gulping too, so i was glad he was here to hug real tight ;0)

waiting for the bus.....grandma and grandpa even came out to wait with us, but I didn't get a picture

can barely see out the window

he made it to school, i was late and missed meeting the bus when it arrived at school, but i found him safe and sound in the Kindergarten room - no tears from him about it

The Valley

A couple weeks ago we went quadding in the valley with Tyler and Amanda, Tim, and Brennan and Bri.  Its so beautiful there, I can hardly believe its only a few mins from home.  All the kids came along, and it was a fun family afternoon.  Daudi drove his little quad that he got for his birthday.  He did pretty good, we had to park it in the bush for awhile when his thumb got too tired...and Daddy had to rescue him once on the way home when he lost control going down a hill.  Luckily it was a good save and aside from Jarv being scraped up a bit, no major damage to little boy or bike!

Daudi's Play School Graduation

Daudi starts kindergarten in a few weeks already.  He is very excited and I am very happy for his excitement.  I have wondered over the last little while if this means I care less about my children than other moms do....I don't really feel sad about it at all.  Of course I loved when he was really little and full of cuteness, and he's still cute, of course.  But, we are both looking forward to it!  Adair will go to Pre-K the same days he goes to Kindergarten, so I will be the Queen of Highway 8 pretty soon :0)

Last weekend

Happy 60th Anniversary Grandpa and Grandma!

And look at our surprise when we got home! Just found them this afternoon. One of the cats had kittens in the back of the quad while we were away. The kids are pretty excited about it :0)

Tia and Sorren's wedding

Friday, March 30, 2012 was a beautiful day for the new Mr. and Mrs. Thue. Not too often you have cousins on each side who marry each other!

Tia and Sorren

I especially like this one ;0)

Best attempt at a family picture. Adair was hungry!

A few weeks ago...

Its feeling more and more like spring. I have been meaning to post this for awhile, but our internet is a little sporadic. So...a few weeks ago we got a big dump of snow and then the days after were so beautiful.

February

Seems like the weeks are flying by. Of course some days are certainly slower than others, but on average they are flying!

This month we had a couple face painting days...

Made some fun coloured rice for an indoor sandbox...and vacuumed up most of it off the floor

Skated on the dugout

Oh yes, and did a little finger painting. This is a fun activity once in a blue moon
...only got a little on the wall
and a lot everywhere else!

Adair tackling Daudi, she can handle him pretty easily these days.
